Meeting my Cofounder
On a whim, encouraged by someone I gave a free mock interview to, I went to a LA Tech Week event at Auld Fella in Culver City. Being in the structural engineering/ building construction industry, the world I inhabit is risk-adverse, highly regulated, and the time to money is quite lengthy and capital intensive - you can’t get a quick exit. With that in mind, I find the world of tech rather exotic.
While there were some cool people at the meetup event, I felt exhausted by typical clout-chasers you often meet in a place like LA. Their initial questions are meant to gauge if you’re worth their time to keep talking to.
On the other hand, Jeremy and I had a blast exchanging random stories that didn’t have anything to do with money, status, followers, or anything else the LA scene typically cares about. Jeremy feels like another salt of the earth human, who isn’t easily enamored by the latest crypto fad. When he left, I didn’t want to get stuck talking to the randos at our table so then I left too. Jeremy and I walked for a bit to our cars and then he invited me to a Halloween party at his home and thus began our friendship.
I got the sense through our time spent together as friends that he is sensible and pragmatic as well as a really thoughtful friend. We both enjoy hosting and bringing people together. Furthermore, we share similar ideologies around balancing free speech with safety. We are big believers that technology can be leveraged to help people thrive. While Jeremy and I were hanging out and catching up at the La Brea Tar Pits in February 2025, I updated him that I was working on this app idea. He offered to code it.

Our business partnership has only been for roughly 2 months now, but it feels really serendipitous. We have the same mission and values. We share the same risk tolerance. We are bootstrapping and doing everything ourselves at the moment.
