2025 Reflections
Milestones this year:
January 2025 - Though the Discord has existed for years, I start to understand that there is a gap in the market for this to be an app.
March 2025 - Jeremy and I start working together on this app.
October 2025 - The Homie Haven app is on the Apple App Store.
We celebrate coming a long way, and we are so thankful for everyone who has helped us along the way so far. I’m thankful for time to reset, recharge, and reflect. We will keep you updated on new challenges and adventures next year.
The end of the year has given me a lot of time to reflect on genuine connection, which is key to our company mission “To Solve Urban Loneliness”. I woke up this morning with an audacious 2026 New Year’s Resolution. No Instagram for the whole year. The photo sharing app for connecting with friends has been terrible for my mental health, yet I keep going back - it’s an addiction. Not only do I feel lonelier and more anxious as I scroll through pristine photos and videos, the act of posting and anticipating what other people will think about me etc…. puts me in a narcissistic headspace caring about the opinions of people who haven’t interacted with me beyond the heart double tap ❤️. I’m too vulnerable, so it’s best just to not be on the app until my ego is quieter and my dopamine resets.
What could it look like to create an app that promotes mental health and real connection? I will continue to post about our business endeavors and my reflections on the complexity of modern human connection and friendships. Urban Loneliness is a problem that still remains fascinating to me and I have more ideas than we have time & resources to execute on but I hope I can find a way to fulfill our mission in a healthy way and make healthy revenue doing so.
